PA Hunters Not Required To Display License

    http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/...&type=B&bn=735

A bill is on the desk of Gov Tom Corbett waiting for him to sign a bill not requiring PA hunters to display their license any more. Do you think this is good or bad ?

Does not make any difference to me. I believe you do not have to display in NY, but I still do. I would not know how to handle it any other way, I don't carry a wallet.

Well if I had it in my wallet, chances are I would always have it. As it is now, I get to location and find out it is on the other vest or jacket I used last time. I hate that.

More reason for the ***** to harass you in the field.

They never seem to need a reason to harass me. You could drop me from a helicopter in the middle of Yellowstone, naked, and they would find me and be trying to tell me I was spotlighting and they heard a gun blast.

I don't really care either way for hunting but fishing , I freakin hate having to display that thing, infact I never do, it's always in the boat glove box, but then I always have another one in the truck and another in my old truck and a file on the computer saving the license to begin with, I probably would lean to not having to display the hunting license, like Zen said, I have left it on my other vest on occasion, but that didn't stop me from hunting any one of those times either.

Like Zen said "if it's in the wallet it will always be with me". Then I wouldn't have to worry when going back and forth to camp. Same with fishing. At least those I can print a few of them and keep one at camp, one in the boat, one at home, etc...

I like the idea. I've lost several licenses off of my back while crawling through thickets on drives. Then trying to go back and find it... PITA!

Does the fishing one have to be displayed? Was told by a fellow on the Nut that one has 24 hours to produce it. His name was Jimmy Dallas and raised the steelhead for some club but died two years ago. Sure meet some nice people while enjoying the outdoors. Back to hunting and enjoy it while you have it. (HUNTING ECT.)

870, you sure you don't have to wear it in NY?

Doesn't really metter to me either, although i would prefer to have to not display it. I have also had it come unhooked from a jacket and had to back track to get it. So do some of you on here scan your license to your computer? Never heard of that

I also put duct tape over the back, because I hate getting water and crap in there. I use it to carry zip ties and stuff as well as my tags.

I belive the fishing one has to be displayed in PA. I have also heard about the 24 hour window to show proof, but at the same time that 24 hour window might just be based on the mood the officer is in.

I can understand the whole "wanting it displayed" but at the same time it makes no sense. It is always something that seems to get snagged up on something, and risk possible loss without knowing it. I mean, you dont have to display your drivers license when you are driving. How many unlicensed drivers are driving vs unlicensed hunters that are hunting? The police officer askes to see your drivers license which is usually in your wallet (in hoffsters circumstances, a purse) so whats the difference if the officers has to ask you to see it, or if he asks you to turn around so he can see your displayed license.

the only benefit to not displaying it less opportunity to lose it....other than that this is a waste of legislative time and money...

      MOVE FORWARD WITH SUNDAY HUNTING

CREATE A CONCURRENT ARCHERY DEER/BEAR SEASON LIKE NY

thats what they need to focus on imo.....

In Ny I display the portion with the number/year thing but keep all the tags and license itself in the wallet. The one I bought last year for three day fishing didnt really come with a back tag.

NO I am not sure,.... I usually have mine on my back, unless I am hunting up back then I don't worry a whole lot about it.
    1. mikeymjr23's Avatar
I do the same. If I'm on the farm, I might not have it on me at all times, but I have it in my pocket.

Just don't wnat to lose it...
